What is the Full Form of FSSAI ?

FSSAI - Food Safety and Standards Authority of India

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is the premier and foremost Food Safety regulator in India. It has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The authority is headquartered in New Delhi.

FSSAI is responsible for carrying out chemical tests on the food based products of different manufacturers and importers. Along with that the authority also regulates the storage, manufacture, import and distribution of food product to ensure food safety.

FSSAI issues certificate to the Food Business Operator (FBO) who follows the policies and guidelines of the authority. FSSAI certificate is now compulsory for those who are involved in a food business, whether it is a trader, manufacturer or a restaurant owner.
