In order to use an Internet, you need an Internet Service Provider. As the name suggests, an Internet service provider is a commercial organization that offers high speed internet services to the end user. The connection to an ISP could be made with the help of a broadband or a dial-up connection. 

India has second largest Internet user base with ISPs like Airtel, Reliance, BSNL, Tikona and various other small providers serving in different parts of the country. The majority of telecommunication service providers are now "Internet Service Providers". They usually charge a monthly fee based on your use or type of services.

In India, the presence of Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) in increasing with a great pace. Such service providers offer Internet services based on wireless networking. Such services offers mobility to the user, and reduces the cost of installation and maintenance.
