ABN AMRO Bank is the result of the merger between Algemene Bank Nederland and AMsterdam ROtterdam Bank, in 1991. AMRO Bank is itself the result of a merger of the Rotterdamsche Bank and Amsterdamsche Bank in the 1960s.

        In the month of October 2007, a consortium of RBS, Fortis and Santander acquired ABN AMRO which is termed as the biggest banking acquisition ever happened in the financial history of the world. The Bank serves commercial, consumer, and private clients.
