CBEC - Central Board of Excise and Customs

Central Board of Excise and Customs is the statutory body under the Department of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. The board is responsible for the administration and formulation of Customs, Excise and Service Tax laws and policies in the country. The department is administered by the team of experienced IRS officers.

The department was established in 1855 with the name "Customs & Central Excise department" by the then British Governor General of India. It is one of the oldest government departments of the country.
