What is the Full Form of NEST ?

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is conducted jointly by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and Mumbai University - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. Candidates that are able to successfully qualify the exams will be offered admission in the above mentioned prestigious universities. The NEST Exam is conducted annually to offer admission for Integrated MSc programmes in:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

Both NISER and CBS are autonomous institutions established by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, in 2007. These institutes have started with the mandate to provide high-quality teaching in basic sciences by a faculty of distinguished scientists embedded in a vibrant research environment and to create a national pool of scientists ready to take up research challenges in the frontiers of basic and applied sciences.

NEST 2020 will be jointly conducted by NISER and Mumbai University on June 6, 2020 in online mode at 90 exam centers. NEST is a national level entrance exam conducted for students seeking admission to 5-year Integrated MSc Program in Basic Sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
