IRDA - Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority is an agency run by the government of India, that regulates insurance industry in India. It is Headquartered in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh since 2001. The agency is responsible for making policies and monitoring the policies of all the Insurance Companies in India.

It was constituted in response to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 passed by the Government of India.

IrDA - Infrared Data Association

Infrared Data Association is a group of device manufacturers, founded in 1993, whose task is to develop standards for transmitting data via infrared light waves. Infrared light waves can be used to transfer data from one device to another without using a cable, provided that both the devices have IrDA ports. But, the technology is now superseded by Bluetooth.
