What is the Full Form of 3G?

3G - Third Generation

"Third Generation" or 3G as the name suggests the third generation of mobile telecommunications technology. The new 3G technology is based on the GSM system and complies with the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000) specifications.

The 3G technology is the successor of 2G technology or more specifically the 2.5G technology. The data rates in 3G have largely improved as compared to 2G and 2.5G. Depending on the network, you may get a data range of 384 kbps to 42 Mbps. One may easily go for video calling, video streaming and mobile TV with the help of 3G.

The new technology, which has superseded the 3G technology is 4G or LTE. It offers a much higher data rate as compared to 3G at a lower price.
