What is the Full Form of RIP Protocol ?

RIP - Routing Information Protocol

Routing Information Protocol is a distance-vector routing protocol, which employs the hop count (number of nodes between source and destination) as a routing metric. Routing Information Protocol exists in many version including : RIP version 1, version 2 and RIPng (next generation).

RIP has a hop count of 15, which means more than 15 intermediate nodes would be "unreachable". RIP works well with a small network, but becomes inefficient for a larger one.
