EPC - Electronic Product Code

The Electronic Product Code, designed exclusively for use with RFID (Radio-frequency identification) data carriers, is a unique number which can be used to identify every physical object in the world. It is a low-cost method of identifying the products which can be associated with data related to an item, like the date of manufacture or the area of production.

Basic format of EPC
The Basic format of Electronic Product Code is divided into 4 different blocks:-

1. Header - It identifies the length, type, structure, version, and generation of the code
2. EPC Manager Number - It is responsible for maintaining the subsequent partitions
3. Object Class - It identifies a class of objects
4. Serial Number - It Identifies the instance
