LPG - Liquefied Petroleum Gas

Liquefied petroleum gas is a clean and efficient source of energy having wide range of applications. It is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases including Propane and Butane. It is extracted from crude oil and natural gas, and thus a non-renewable source of energy.

LPG is highly inflammable, so special care must be taken while using it. It must be kept away from the source of ignition and should be kept in a ventilated area. Liquefied Petroleum gas is heavier than air, so any kind of leakage will result in gas dispersion near the floor.

Uses of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

• Cooking - It is best suited to cooking and it doesn't produce smoke as compared to traditional ways of cooking. Normally, the gas is stored in liquid form under pressure in a cylinder or tank.
• Motor Fuel - It reduces the transportation cost by consuming less fuel as compared to other sources like petrol and diesel. Also, LPG is more environment friendly gas.
• Refrigeration - Liquefied Petroleum Gas is also used in providing off-the-grid refrigeration.
